Questions, answered honestly
What counts as a “generation”?
One generation is one time NoteGoblin asks the AI to write something for you: processing an uploaded file into a study kit, writing notes for one section, a new batch of flashcards or quiz questions, a past-exam practice set, or one tutor answer. Lecture recordings use 1 generation per started 10 minutes of audio. Flipping flashcards, retaking quizzes and re-reading notes you already have never counts. If a generation fails, it isn’t counted.
Are my notes and slides private?
Your uploaded files and everything generated from them are stored in your browser on your own device, not in a NoteGoblin database. To write notes or questions, the relevant text is sent through our server to our AI provider to process that request; we don’t keep a copy. Your account, plan and monthly usage count are stored with our sign-in and billing providers. Quizzes you choose to share in a study group are visible to that group.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Go to Plan & usage → Manage subscription and cancel in a couple of clicks. No contract, no cancellation fee, and your free plan (and everything you made) stays.
Is the price in Canadian dollars?
Yes — Pro is $7.99 CAD a month, charged in Canadian dollars through Stripe. Depending on your province, sales tax may be added at checkout. The free plan is free, with no card required.
What happens when I run out of free generations?
Everything you already made keeps working. You can wait for your 30 free generations to reset on the 1st of the month, or upgrade to Pro for 1,000 a month.
Can I record lectures?
Yes. Use Record lecture on the upload page to record in your browser, or upload an mp3, m4a, wav or webm file. The audio is sent to our AI provider to be transcribed and isn’t stored by NoteGoblin; the transcript is saved on your device and turned into notes, flashcards and a quiz. The free plan includes 1 recording a month, up to 15 minutes; Pro allows recordings up to 90 minutes. Transcripts are automatic and can contain mistakes, especially with noisy rooms or quiet speakers. Always get your prof’s permission first; many schools require it.
Is this a way to cheat?
No. NoteGoblin is for studying your own course material before the exam — notes, practice questions and spaced-repetition flashcards. It doesn’t write assignments or take tests for you. Always follow your school’s academic integrity rules.
